Currently we are living in an apartment and the best way to compost is to use a compost bin. I prefer a bin with a lid as it is very helpful in keeping temperature and moisture level regulated. Also, with possible pest issues From the apartment below we feel way nore comfortable with a lid on the bin.
Keeping it in the sun really helps to fasten the process of composting by increasing the temperature so in the near future we would like to be able to put our compost in a sunny area so that it will dry faster and the method can be more efficient.

By Pallavi,
This covered container sits under our kitchen sink. We throw all our organic waste (including paper towels and dryer lint!!) in here. We are not currently composting at home but we use the City's green bin.

Since we started composting with city, this is how our landfill trashcan looks every week...we don't even need plastic bag because we rarely have wet waste. I'm happy that we are not dependent on plastic bags for trash .....we used to reuse plastic grocery bags as trashbags...then, as we started refusing plastic grocery bags , I was thinking hard about how to deal with trashcan.....but, composting resolved this issue too....😊
Since we don't have much regular trash to go to Brown bin, we can choose smaller one . So that it is to put outside and we can save money too , Garbage charge.

Here's how we collect organics for City Composting...brown bags from HEB or bought @ ¢10/bag. Use brown bags to avoid cleaning container and stinking up our municipal/City curbside bin. Remember...food soiled cardboard & paper can be composted!

By Kusuma Aunty,
2. Kitchen counter bin to collect things that go to city green trash and to my backyard .
3. For the last one month , I am digging a hole to dump my kitchen waste and cover with the soil.
1. The thing here is 1 1/2 month old compost , I made from my kitchen waste . I have to wait 1 more month before to start using to the plants.
